10 Civilians Killed in Sudan

PORT SUDAN: Local activists said on Tuesday that as many as ten people were killed in paramilitary artillery shelling that struck a mosque and other buildings in Khartoum, Sudan. It is the latest incident in Khartoum during the last six months of the fight between Sudan’s chief of army staff General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan and the head of Rapid Support Forces Mohamed Hamdan Daglo.

10 Civilians Killed in Sudan

A local said “Ten civilians were killed and 11 injured in artillery shelling by the RSF in Al-Samrab neighborhood,” in Khartoum. “Several shells fell on a health center, mosque, and citizens’ homes,” the local activists said by telephone to foreign media.

Earlier, on September 12, as many as 17 people were killed by RSF forces in northern Khartoum.

Similarly, as many as 51 people were killed and dozens injured in air strikes on a southern part of Khartoum, the United Nations said. About more than 7,500 people have been killed in the African country since the war broke out on April 15, western media reported.

The fight has also displaced about 4.3 million people within Sudan, in addition to almost 1.2 million more who have fled across borders, the UN said.
