RAWALPINDI: Twelve terrorists were killed, and six security personnel were martyred during clashes between security forces and members of fitna al khawarij in nonwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, said the military on Friday.
According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media affairs wing of the Pakistan Army, the operations took place in North and South Waziristan on Thursday and Friday respectively.
The first confrontation occurred on September 19, when security forces identified a group of seven terrorists attempting to cross the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in the Spinwam area of North Waziristan. The militants were quickly surrounded, leading to a fierce firefight that resulted in their deaths. Security forces also seized a substantial cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives.
In a second incident in the Ladha area of South Waziristan, a group of Khwarij launched an attack on a security forces’ post. Pakistani troops displayed remarkable courage in repelling the assault, eliminating five terrorists. Tragically, six soldiers made the ultimate sacrifice during this intense exchange of fire.
In response to these incidents, security forces have ramped up operations to eliminate any remaining terrorist presence in the region.
The Pakistani military’s commitment to eradicating terrorism remains strong, and the sacrifices of our brave soldiers further reinforce this resolve.
