RAWALPINDI: Twelve terrorists were killed, while a large number were critically injured when Pakistan’s security forces valiantly repulsed a terrorist attack on two Pakistani military posts located closer to Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Kalash area of Chitral district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Wednesday, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

According to ISPR, a large group of terrorists equipped with the latest weapons attacked two Pakistani military posts located closer to the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in the general area of Kalash.

Terrorists’ movement and concentration in Pitigal, Gawardesh, Barg-e-Matel, and Batash areas of Nuristan and Kunar provinces of Afghanistan had already been picked up and were timely shared with the Interim Government of Afghanistan, ISPR said.

In anticipation of a heightened threat environment, the Pakistani military posts had already been placed on high alert, ISPR said. The brave and resilient soldiers stationed at these posts exhibited exceptional courage and determination, mounting a staunch defense against the attackers. As a testament to the armed forces’ unwavering commitment to protecting their homeland, they successfully repulsed the terrorist assault, inflicting heavy casualties on the terrorists, ISPR added.

Four Pakistani Soldiers Embraced Martyrdom

However, during the intense exchange of fire between the Pakistani soldiers and the terrorists, four soldiers who fought gallantly to safeguard their nation’s security embraced martyrdom during the encounter, ISPR reported.

According to ISPR, sanitization of the area is being carried out to eliminate any other terrorists found in the area.

The security forces of Pakistan remain resolute in their determination to eradicate the scourge of terrorism and maintain peace and stability in the region. “Such sacrifices of our soldiers further strengthen our resolve,” ISPR maintained.

The people of Chitral stand firmly with the security forces in their united stance against terrorism, vowing not to allow the terrorists to disrupt the peace and security of the area.

The Interim Government of Afghanistan is expected to fulfill its obligations and prevent the use of Afghan soil by terrorists for conducting acts of terrorism against Pakistan.
