BAMAKO, Mali: At least 15 people were killed and 46 others wounded when a bus collided with a truck in central Mali on Monday, said the transport ministry.
The ministry said in a statement that a bus travelling from the central town of Mopti to the capital Bamako collided with a 10-tonne truck coming from the opposite direction between the towns of Ouan and Kessedougou.
According to the ministry, the provisional toll stood at 15 dead and 46 injured, some of them seriously. It said civil defence workers shifted the victims to the Somino Dolo hospital in Mopti.
Road accidents are not uncommon in Mali and poor road and vehicle conditions as well as human error remains the major cause for the same.
