16th Nuclear and Security Forum Hosted by Arab League Kicks Off in Cairo

CAIRO: The 16th edition of the two-day Nuclear and Security Forum started at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo on Wednesday, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

Over 100 experts from 14 Arab nations, along with representatives from Arab and international think tanks, UN agencies concerned with disarmament and non-proliferation, the International Committee of the Red Cross and relevant sectors of the Arab League Secretariat General are participating in the conference.

The conference would deliberate on key regional and international issues, including nuclear deterrence, setting up of a nuclear-weapon-free zone and other weapons of mass destruction in the Middle East, the environmental, legal, security challenges in the Middle East, the roles of youth and women in nuclear disarmament and arms control, humanitarian impacts of lethal weapons used in Gaza and the latest developments in maritime security.
