Prominent lawyer Anouar Awled Ali said that Tayeb Rached and Bechir Akremi were among the judges sacked in 2022. He added that the both were captured by the police today.

A local radio network claimed that Akremi’s arrest was linked to the probe into the assassination of Chokri Belaid, a political worker and activist.

On Saturday, police detained ex-Finance Minister Khayam Turki, Kamel Ltaif, a businessman and Abd El Hamid Jlassi of Ennahda Islamist party.

The Interior Ministry did not immediately issue any statement regarding the recent arrests in the African country.
