KARACHI: In a significant development, the People’s Bus Service in Karachi is set to increase its fleet by 30 buses, bringing relief to the city’s commuters.

The initiative comes after the Caretaker Chief Minister, Justice (R) Maqbool Baqir played a pivotal role in securing funds from the Accountant General, Sindh for the acquisition of the new buses.

With the release of funds, the transport department is now tasked with settling the customs duties, as underscored by the Sindh Chief Minister. In a directive, the CM instructed the transport department to ensure timely payments, thereby facilitating the prompt release of the buses from the port within a week.

Highlighting the urgency of the situation, CM Baqir has stressed the swift deployment of the recently ordered buses from China onto Karachi’s roads. He said, “The buses procured from China should be brought on the roads as expeditiously as possible.”
