ISLAMABAD: Archaeologists completed excavations on thirty-five tombs dating back to the Medieval Ages’ Tang Dynasty (618-907) in Liaocheng City in east China’s Shandong Province, Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology (ICRA) in the province said on Thursday.
It said that over 100 cultural relics of various materials such as bronze, pottery, clam, lacquered wood, iron, and porcelain were unearthed.
Tang Dynasty era funeral rituals in Tombs
Fifteen tombs are clearly dated which gives a considerable standard for the period division of the graves in Shandong. Archeologists say that new discoveries will help the evaluation study of small and medium-seed brick of the Tang Dynasty in Shandong’s eastern part.
White porcelain bowls, tower-shaped pots, and other unearthed relics provide scientists with new materials to study the funeral rituals and customs in the late Tang Dynasty in the area. – APP
