PESHAWAR: A five-day special drive against contamination launched by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority ended wherein 3600 liters of adulterated milk was discarded, local media reported on Monday.
The five-day special drive was conducted across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, said a spokesperson Food Authority. It added that teams inspected milk vendors and tankers on main highways.
A modern mobile food testing lab taken and tested around 1061 milk samples and found 906 samples satisfactory while 155 were declared as unsatisfactory.
3600 Litres Contaminated Milk Discarded During Special Campaign
Meanwhile, in 155 unsatisfactory milk samples, the contamination of powder was found in ten percent of samples and water in 90 %.
The teams had discarded around 3,600 liters of adulterated milk, sealed 8 milk shops, and also imposed a fine of a million.
Director General Food Authority Wasif Saeed stated that contamination of milk was equal to playing with human lives, especially kids.
He further said that the special drive was launched to take strict measures against the adulteration mafia and warned of more strict action in the future.
