4th Round of Pakistan-China Maritime Dialogue Highlights Bilateral Cooperation

ISLAMABAD: The 4th round of the Pakistan-China Maritime Dialogue was held in federal capital Islamabad on Thursday.

Director General (China) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan Mohammad Aamir Khan and Deputy Director General of the Department of Boundary and Ocean Affairs of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Wang Jinfeng co-chaired the Dialogue that covered various aspects of bilateral maritime cooperation.

Following the session, Deputy Director General Wang Jinfeng met with Imran Ahmed Siddiqui, Additional Secretary (Asia-Pacific) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The comprehensive exchange of views included discussions on naval exchanges, regional cooperation, maritime infrastructure development, collaboration in fisheries, science and technology, search and rescue missions, maritime disaster management, and combating maritime pollution.

Both sides expressed satisfaction with the longstanding Pakistan-China friendship and their All-weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership, committing to further expand maritime cooperation.

Acknowledging the evolving regional and global maritime landscape, the two nations affirmed that their mutual cooperation aligns with their shared vision for a peaceful and prosperous Asia-Pacific region.

Emphasizing the necessity to enhance practical cooperation in response to emerging threats, the agreement was made to sustain bilateral exchanges and promote ties between the two countries’ navies.

The next Maritime Dialogue, the 5th round, is scheduled to be held in China next year.
