ANKARA: Turkiye’s foreign ministry announced on Sunday that it has submitted a letter to the United Nations, signed by 52 countries and two organisations, urging a halt to arms deliveries to Israel.
“We have issued a joint letter calling on all nations to cease the sale of arms and ammunition to Israel. This letter, which has 54 signatories, was delivered to the UN on November 1,” stated Hakan Fidan at a press conference in Djibouti, where he was attending a Turkiye-Africa partnership summit.
Fidan emphasized, “We must consistently remind everyone that selling arms to Israel equates to participating in its genocide.” He said that this initiative was initiated by Turkiye.

Among the signatories are countries such as Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Algeria, China, Iran, and Russia, with the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation being the two organizations involved.
Last month, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called for the UN to impose an arms embargo on Israel, describing it as an “effective solution” to the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
