65th Martyrdom Anniversary of Major Tufail Shaheed (NH) Being Observed Today

ISLAMABAD: Today marks the solemn occasion of the 65th martyrdom anniversary of Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider, a brave and valiant soldier who sacrificed his life for the country.

Born on 22nd July 1914 in Hoshiarpur City, located in the East Punjab region, Major Tufail Muhammad left behind an exemplary legacy of courage and devotion.

In August 1958, Major Tufail Muhammad was entrusted with a crucial mission – to launch an offensive against Indian forces in the region of Lakshmipur. It was a daunting task, and he knew he would face heavy resistance from the enemy. However, undeterred by the challenges that lay ahead, he fearlessly led his troops into the battlefield.

During the intense conflict, Major Tufail Muhammad displayed extraordinary bravery, proving himself to be a true hero. Despite the overwhelming odds, he remained resolute and steadfast, continuing his mission with unwavering determination. Unfortunately, on this fateful day in 1958, Major Tufail Muhammad made the ultimate sacrifice for his country, laying down his life while fighting for the cause he believed in.

The nation mourned the loss of this exceptional soldier, recognizing his selflessness and gallantry. In acknowledgement of his immense courage and unwavering commitment to duty, Major Tufail Muhammad was posthumously awarded Pakistan’s highest military honour, the Nishan-e-Haider.
