LAHORE: The Punjab Health Department confirmed on Wednesday that 82 new cases of Dengue were reported across the province in the past twenty-four hours.
Among the total cases, 69 cases were specifically from Rawalpindi, while 4 were reported in Lahore and 2 in Chakwal. One case each was identified in Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, Mianwali, Mandi Bahauddin, Sargodha, and Sahiwal.
In the past week, 459 new dengue virus infections have been recorded, bringing the total number of cases in Punjab for 2024 to 1,245. A spokesperson for the Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department reassured the public that necessary arrangements for dengue prevention are in place, with government hospitals adequately stocked with essential medicines.
In light of the rising case numbers, the Health Department has issued an advisory urging the public to maintain clean and dry environments to help prevent the virus’s spread. They highlighted the importance of citizen cooperation with health teams actively working to control the outbreak.

Additionally, a free helpline (1033) has been established for those seeking treatment, information, or wishing to report dengue-related issues. Health officials emphasized that vigilance and proactive measures are crucial for containing the spread of the virus throughout the province.
