89 Indian Hindu Pilgrims Reach Pakistan to Attend Religious Festival

LAHORE: Around 89 Hindu pilgrims from India on Tuesday arrived in Pakistan to celebrate their religious festival ‘Maha Shivaratri’ happening at Katas Raj Temple in Pakistan’s Punjab Province.

A spokesperson for the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) of the Government of Pakistan Amir Hashmi said that “Some 89 Hindu pilgrims arrived here from India via Wagah border on Tuesday”.  Senior officers of ETPB Rana Shahid and Fraz Abbas received the Indian Hindu pilgrims at the Wagah border.

Indian Pilgrims in Kallar Kahar

Hashmi said that Indian pilgrims would remain in Lahore for one day before leaving for Chakwal, around 300km from Lahore, to attend their religious festival at Katas Raj Temples situated in Kallar Kahar of Potohar region in Punjab Province. A spokesperson of ETPB said that the main event ‘Maha Shivaratri’ will be held in Katas Raj Temple on Thursday.

Security Arrangements of Indian Hindu Pilgrims

Hashmi said that foolproof security arrangements have been made for the security of Indian Hindu pilgrims by the Government of Pakistan,

Leader of Hindu Indian pilgrims Sanjiv Kumar said that they receive love and kindness in Pakistan and anticipated that the Pakistani Government is taking good care of their holy places in Pakistan.

A sequence of Hindu temples connected by walkways makes up the Shri Katas Raj Temples, also known as Qila Katas. Hindus revere the hallowed Katas Pond, which is surrounded by the temple complex.
