ISLAMABAD: In commemoration of International Mountain Day, Serena Hotels launched the 9th edition of the International Mountain Film Festival, marking a celebration of nature, adventure, and a collective commitment to preserving the world’s most breathtaking peaks.
The event, held under Serena Hotels’ Adventure Diplomacy initiative, brought together distinguished dignitaries, diplomats, and representatives from the corporate sector.
The festival, curated by Mr. Wajahat Malik, founder of PIMFF (Pakistan International Mountain Film Festival), transcends beyond a showcase of films. Addressing the audience, Malik emphasized the festival’s role as a platform for fostering connections, promoting sustainable practices, and inspiring a shared dedication to preserving natural wonders for future generations.

PIMFF features a diverse array of cinematic works, including short films, documentaries, features, and animations exploring themes of mountain adventure sports, nature, environment, climate change, mountain tourism, and cultures.
Expressing appreciation for Serena Hotels’ commitment to promoting sports and adventure, Malik highlighted the impact of their Sports and Adventure Diplomacy initiatives. These efforts have played a pivotal role in supporting young mountaineers and empowering the nation’s youth to pursue their goals in adventure sports.
The festival to be held at the Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA) on December 16th and 17th, promises a captivating experience. With a lineup of 21 films, the event includes panel talks discussing cinematic journeys that transcend borders and elevate the human experience. Attendees can anticipate a celebration of the strong spirit of individuals finding solace and inspiration in the world’s most magnificent mountain peaks.
