Riyadh Discusses Defense Cooperation with Islamabad, Tehran, Beijing, Moscow

MOSCOW: Saudi Assistant Minister of Defense Eng. Talal Al-Otaibi has discussed defense cooperation with senior officials of Pakistan, Iran China, and Russia, Arab media reported on Thursday.

According to Saudi Gazette, the talks between the officials were held on the sidelines of the 11th Moscow Conference on Global Security.

On the occasion, Al-Otaibi met with Russian Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin and discussed means to enhance defense cooperation between Moscow and Riyadh. The two sides also reviewed bilateral ties and cooperation in the defense sectors. He also met with Chinese Defense Minister Li Shangfu, Secretary General and Deputy Minister of Defense Hammood Uz Zaman Khan, head of the Pakistani delegation. He also met Deputy Chief of the General Staff Brig. Gen. Aziz Nasirzadeh, the head of Iran’s delegation.

The Saudi Minister headed the delegation of the Saudi Ministry of Defense at the conference. Over 800 delegates from 76 nations and six global organizations attended the conference in Moscow. They included more than twenty-six defense ministers and sixteen deputy defense ministers, Chiefs of General Staff, senior defense officials, and security policymakers from different countries.  The aim of the conference is to discuss modern defense challenges.
