Saudi Authorities Apprehend Drug Dealers from Borders Region

RIYADH: Saudi authorities have apprehended three Saudi citizens for showing hashish and prohibited tablets on social media, Arab media reported on Tuesday.

Meanwhile authorities also arrested a citizen in Al-Aflaj for dealing 11,290 amphetamine pills and other tablets subject to the medical rules.

Legal action has been taken against the suspects and their custody was handed over to relevant authorities.

The Saudi government has set up confidential hotline to report information about suspected drug dealing or smuggling operations.

The hotline number for Riyadh, Makkah and Eastern region is 911 while number across other regions in the Kingdom is 999. The information can also be given directly to the General Directorate of Narcotic Control at 995 and [email protected].

Saudi Arabia has been making long-term efforts to control the menace of drug smuggling into the Kingdom and crack down on illegal drug trafficking.

Saudi law has different punishments for convicts depending on whether they are smugglers, dealers, or drug users.
