ISLAMABAD: Pakistan introduced electronic driving licenses for citizens of the Punjab province on Saturday.

Under the initiative, started by the Punjab police, citizens can now apply online for their driving licenses through the Driving License Information Management System (DLIMS) website.

Furthermore, these electronic licenses can be downloaded in PDF format and used as valid documents while driving.

Inspector General (IG) of Punjab Police Usman Anwar said that over 3 million driving licenses had been issued this year, and the number of driving license centers has increased from 45 to 200 across Punjab.

Fake Driving Licenses Network Unearthed

In related news, the Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) uncovered a network involved in producing more than 27,000 fake driving licenses over a span of three years. The investigation revealed that the suspects charged between 4,000 to 10,000 rupees for a fake license and even verified them through a fraudulent website. Unfortunately, the FIA was unable to block the counterfeit website. Additionally, the gang accepted payments through an online app and possessed a printing machine to create these fraudulent licenses.
