Pakistan Finance Minister Reviews FBR Automation Plan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Finance Minister Dr. Shamshad Akhtar on Thursday chaired an important meeting regarding Automation of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). This meeting took place at the FBR headquarters today.

The meeting was attended by the Dr. Umar Saif, Minister for IT & Telecom, along with the Chairman of FBR and officials from the Revenue Division, IT Division, and FBR.

The meeting discussed the automation of the FBR, encompassing various aspects of tax collection and revenue management. Representatives from both the FBR team and the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication presented an overview of the comprehensive automation plan’s progress.

Finance Minister Akhtar reaffirmed the government’s commitment to modernizing fiscal systems in alignment with international best practices. She emphasized the critical role of technology in fortifying the nation’s revenue collection mechanisms and fostering economic growth. Dr. Akhtar underscored that automation is not merely an option but a necessity to ensure transparency, accountability, and an improved business environment in Pakistan.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment from all participating entities to dedicate their efforts towards advancing these objectives. The goal is to enhance fiscal governance, bolster revenue collection, and invigorate the country’s economic growth trajectory.
