ISLAMABAD: At least 7 national assembly seats have fallen vacant by Friday’s verdict of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in one go — one retained by the PTI Chairman from Mianwali after the 2018 general elections and the six won by him in the recently-held by-polls.
The decision of the ECP has also eclipsed the political future of the PTI Chief as he has been disqualified to become a member of the parliament for five years. According to the ECP verdict in Toshakhana case, Imran is no more a member of the parliament. In a landmark victory, the PTI chairman won six national assembly seats in a single election on October 16. With his disqualification, all the seats have become vacant, paving way for the by-polls on these seats.
