South China Sea: China, Malaysia to Have Open Communication

NANNING: Malaysia Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has said that Malaysia and China have agreed to have an open communication over the South China Sea issue to maintain peace and stability, Malaysian media reported on Sunday.

Anwar in a statement after meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qing said the Chinese leader has stressed the need for openness, civility and mutual respect in dealing with bilateral, regional and global support.

Anwar attends 20th China-Asean Expo

Datuk Seri Anwar was in Chinese city of Nanning for 14-hour visit where he participated in the 20th China-Asean Expo, where he introduced Malaysia to the Chinese market.

He also saw the signing of three memoranda of understanding worth US $ 5.8 billion and had closed-door interactions with Huawei and the Chinese Communications and Construction Company.

According to Xinhua news agency, Li during a meeting with the Malaysian PM said China stands ready to work more closely with Malaysia to maintain peace in the South China Sea.

During their bilateral meeting the two sides discussed the situation in Myanmar and the repatriation of Rohingya refugees.
