HYDERABAD: The Pakistan cricket team reached India via Dubai on Wednesday to participate in the ICC World Cup 2023. The team landed at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad.

The Pakistani contingent— comprising eighteen players and thirteen-player support personnel — will be accompanied by a security entourage of more than twenty vehicles while being moved to their hotel.

The national team had left for Dubai at 3:20 am. Less than 48 hours after landing in Hyderabad, Pakistan will play their first warmup match against New Zealand on Friday later this week.

The team will take part in the training session the next day and is scheduled to play their first warm-up match against New Zealand on 29 September.

Ahead of leaving for India, the national team skipper Babar Azam requested cricket fans for prayers.

It is to be mentioned that on Monday, India finally issued visas to the Pakistan team ending uncertainty surrounding its participation in the most awaited event.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had written a letter to the International Cricket Council complaining about a visa delay which, it said, had disrupted the team’s preparation for the mega tournament across the border.

Pakistan will play 2 warm-up matches before starting their World Cup journey against the Netherlands on 6 October. Arch-rivals Pakistan and India are set to clash in a mouth-watering October 14 contest in Ahmedabad.
