PESHAWAR: The caretaker government of Pakistan has decided on the re-verification of mobile SIM cards across the country.
The authorities will re-verify the SIMs through the Multi Finger Biometric Verification System.
The important decision was reportedly taken during a meeting in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where the KP caretaker chief minister, high-ranking officials from the military, and other key officials were present.
SIM Cards Blocked
The authorities blocked about 80,624 mobile SIMs along with around four million others that were not being used, according to media reports.
Moreover, about 112,320 tampered Afghan passports have also been blocked.
During the meeting, the authorities decided to allow only one mobile SIM on a single passport.
