DUBAI: Pacer Shaheen Afridi climbed higher among the leading ODI bowlers, up two spots to sixth while swapping places with Mitchell Starc (628) who dropped to eighth in ICC ODI Bowling Rankings

Shaheen Afridi ascended to the sixth position among the premier ODI bowlers, climbing two places and exchanging spots with Mitchell Starc (who slipped to eighth with 628 points) in the ICC ODI Bowling Rankings. The impending clash between the left-arm strike bowlers is anticipated as Pakistan and Australia cross paths at the World Cup on October 20.

As the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in India commences, two fast bowlers share the pinnacle of the ODI Bowling Rankings. Mohammed Siraj from India and Josh Hazlewood from Australia jointly lead the MRF Tyres ICC Men’s ODI Bowling Rankings, both amassing 669 ranking points.

Siraj, despite a point decrease in the third ODI against Australia, matched Hazlewood’s score. In that game, Siraj’s performance, conceding 68 runs from nine overs, impacted his ranking adversely. Hazlewood, maintaining his standing, claimed figures of 2/42 in eight overs during the same ODI.

The highly-anticipated encounter between India and Australia on October 8 in the World Cup provides an ideal platform for these fast bowlers to vie for the top position in the rankings.

In the batting arena, an Australian veteran has made strides, securing a position within the top-10 of the Batting Rankings.

Moreover, Afghanistan’s spin duo, Mujeeb Ur Rahman (third place with 657 ranking points) and Rashid Khan (fourth with 655), stand as formidable contenders in the ODI bowling rankings. Further reshuffling saw Mohammad Nabi (621) and Kuldeep Yadav (616) swapping places, with the Afghanistan off-spinner ascending one spot and entering the top 10 of the ODI Bowling Rankings. Kuldeep, presented with the spin-friendly pitches of India, looks forward to the opportunity to reclaim his top-10 ranking.
