RIYADH: Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud met on Thursday with United Kingdom Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

According to the SPA, during the meeting, the two leaders discussed the military escalation in Gaza and the global efforts being made in that regard. The Crown Prince highlighted the significance of exerting all possible efforts to decrease military escalation to ensure that the violence does not expand and cause dangerous repercussions to peace and security in the region and the world, the SPA reported. Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud stressed the need for creating conditions that can restore peace and stability and guarantee the Palestinians their legal rights, the SPA maintained.

The Crown Prince said Saudi Arabia considers the targeting of civilian population in Gaza a heinous crime and a brutal assault, stressing the need to provide them with protection, the SPA added.

Earlier, Rishi Sunak and his accompanying delegation arrived in Riyadh on Thursday, the SPA reported. Upon the arrival of British PM at King Khalid International Airport, Rishi Sunak was received by Deputy Governor of Riyadh Region Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz, Saudi envoy to the United Kingdom Prince Khalid bin Bandar bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, the UK envoy to Saudi Arabia, Neil Crompton, and Mayor of Riyadh Region Prince Faisal bin Abdulaziz bin Ayyaf along with several officials.
