ABU DHABI: Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, the president of the UAE, and Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly have discussed regional and international developments and the need to protect Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip, the Emirates News Agency reported on Tuesday.
The two leaders also discussed bilateral ties and ways to strengthen cooperation between UAE and Canada in various sectors.

During the meeting in Abu Dhabi they also reiterated the importance of bolstering the humanitarian response amid the worsening situation in Gaza.

Emirati Interior Minister Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al-Nahyan and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al-Nahyan were also present in the meeting.
Gaza’s 2.3 million people have been trapped amid escalating Israeli bombardment, running out of basic supplies such as food, water, and medicine since Israel sealed the territory. Israeli authorities have launched 400 airstrikes in the past 24 hours alone, following 320 strikes reported the previous day.
