KABUL: The Daesh militant group has claimed responsibility of the blast that killed seven people at a commercial centre in Kabul, Western media reported on Friday.

The group in its post on Telegram channel said it was behind the blast.  Daesh said it had used a parcel bomb that its fighters put in a room where people gathered.

According to Taliban four people were killed in the incident. Kabul police spokesperson Khalid Zadran said the blast took place in the Dasht-e-Barchi neighbourhood of the capital city.

Reports from sources suggest that dozens more were injured in the attack, with the majority of the victims being young athletes who were present there when the explosion occurred.

The Daesh group has carried out several deadly attacks in the same area of Kabul in recent years targeting schools, mosques and gyms.
