India Exposed: Crackdown on Pro-Palestine Protestors

NEW DELHI: Indian authorities are taking inhuman actions to stop rallies and protests in solidarity with people of Palestine in different parts of the South Asian country, Arab media reported on Saturday.

According to Arab News people have been holding protests and rallies show solidarity with the people of Palestine for last two week across the world including India. According to Arab News, pro-Palestine and right activists said that they can hold protests in the wake of Israeli strikes on Gaza.

Arab media reported that in New Delhi, three rallies were halted by police during the last week. Many peaceful protestors were arrested by the police on Friday. N. Sai Balaji, ex-head of Students’ Union said that they had held a protest outside of the Israeli embassy on Oct. 23 in New Delhi. He added they are with the people of Palestine and wanted to stage protests to express solidarity with people of Palestine. Commenting over the action against peaceful protests, some scholars were of the view that it was the outcome of the extremist Modi government in India.

Arab News reported that when Israel started its daily shelling of Gaza on October. 7, following an attack by Hamas, Modi also offered support for Israel.

Right activists and Human Rights groups strongly criticized the Indian government inhuman crackdown against the pro-Palestine rallies in India. According to Arab media, after the Gaza attack began, police in Hamirpur district of India’s Uttar Pradesh state were looking for two Muslim scholars. Their alleged crime was putting a WhatsApp display image that said: “I stand with Palestine.”

Similarly, 4 students of the Aligarh Muslim University were booked by the police personal following they took out a pro-Palestine rally in the campus.
