LAHORE: The 146th birth anniversary of Pakistan’s national poet, Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal, is being celebrated across the nation with great enthusiasm.

Dr. Iqbal, often referred to as the “Poet of the East,” was born on November 9, 1877, in Sialkot. His profound poetry and visionary political insight played a pivotal role in awakening the Muslims of the Indian subcontinent.

One of the most iconic moments in Allama Iqbal’s life was his historic address at Allahabad in 1930, where he presented the idea of creating Pakistan. This address provided the Muslim community with a clear direction and a distinct identity, laying the foundation for the future nation of Pakistan.

To honor his legacy, Radio Pakistan and various television channels are broadcasting special programs dedicated to Allama Iqbal’s poetry and philosophical thoughts. These programs aim to highlight the enduring impact of his work and vision.

In Lahore, a solemn yet significant change of guards’ ceremony took place at the Mausoleum of Iqbal. A well-disciplined contingent of the Pakistan Navy assumed the responsibility of guarding the mausoleum, signifying the nation’s respect and reverence for the great philosopher poet. Commodore Sajid Hussain, the Station Commander of Lahore for the Pakistan Navy, graced the occasion as the chief guest. He paid his respects by laying a floral wreath at the mausoleum and offering prayers, symbolizing the eternal admiration Pakistan holds for Allama Iqbal.
