22nd Session of OIC IPHRC Kicks Off: SPA

JEDDAH: Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Ambassador Youssef Al-Dubaie has inaugurated the 22nd regular session of the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission associated with the OIC in Jeddah, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Sunday.

The first session has discussed Islamic and institutional standards for eradicating racial discrimination. The 2nd session focused on global efforts and strategies to combat racial discrimination and its current aspects. The 3rd session also highlighted the role of media and national experiences in combating racial prejudice.

The session will continue across the week at the OIC’s headquarters in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The agenda also covers human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir, and Palestine along with the regular meetings of its four working groups related to Palestine, Islamophobia, Muslim communities, the right to development and women’s and children’s rights.

The meeting was attended by the President of the Human Rights Commission, Dr. Hala Bint Mazyed Al-Tuwaijri, Turkish Minister of Justice, Sevket Yilmaz, IPHRC head, Mohammed Lawal Sulaiman, Executive Director of IPHRC at the OIC, Professor Noura bint Zaid Al-Rashoud, representatives of member nations, observer countries, and experts from regional and global organizations, the SPA reported.
