LONDON: Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to the UK, Prince Khalid bin Bandar Al-Saud, was unanimously elected as the president of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) General Assembly during its 33rd session in London.
The IMO is a specialized agency of the United Nations responsible for ensuring the safety and security of shipping and preventing marine and atmospheric pollution by ships.
The Saudi Arabia Embassy in the UK announced the decision in a post on its official account on X.

The meeting presided over by secretary-general Kitack Lim, highlighted the organization’s achievements and emphasized the importance of decarbonizing and digitalizing shipping in the coming years.
