Pakistan PM Kakar in Dubai to Lead Pakistani Delegation at COP28 Conference

DUBAI: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar ul Haq Kakar has travelled to Dubai to actively participate in the 28th United Nations Conference of Parties (COP 28) on climate change.

Leading the Pakistani delegation, the Prime Minister is poised to contribute to discussions and deliberations addressing the pressing global challenges related to climate change.

The focus of the COP 28 is to bring nations together to enhance the urgency of climate action and transition away from fossil fuels. This year’s conference holds particular significance as it occurs at a critical juncture when the world is experiencing a rise in temperatures, making 2023 likely to be the hottest year in recorded history.

Prime Minister Anwaar ul Haq Kakar is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping Pakistan’s stance on climate-related issues. As part of the COP 28 agenda, the Prime Minister will actively participate in the World Climate Action Summit scheduled for Friday and Saturday. The summit provides a platform for world leaders, including Caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani, Caretaker Finance Minister Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, Caretaker Federal Minister for Climate Change Ahmed Irfan Aslam, and Caretaker Energy Minister Muhammad Ali, to collectively address and strategize on climate change mitigation and adaptation measures.

Pakistan’s delegation, under the leadership of Prime Minister Anwaar ul Haq Kakar, is expected to engage in constructive dialogues, share insights, and collaborate with other nations to foster a global commitment to combat climate change. The participation of key ministers from various sectors underscores Pakistan’s commitment to addressing climate challenges comprehensively, aligning with the global community’s efforts to create a sustainable and resilient future.
