GENEVA: The World Health Organization (WHO) has said that Gaza health system is on the verge of collapse and the hospitals in the besieged enclave resemble a horror movie.

The officials of the WHO regrated on the resumption of fighting the area after a week-long truce where the hospitals are almost shut down due to the shortage of feal, medicines and other health care equipment.

WHO officials from Gaza have warned that the healthcare situation in the region was already catastrophic.

Richard Peeperkorn, WHO’s representative in the Palestinian territories, told media via video-link from Gaza said the world health body is extremely concerned about the resumption of violence.

Ongoing fighting cripples Gaza health system

He went on to say the health system in Gaza has been crippled by the ongoing fighting.

Intense fighting started again on Friday, soon after the expiry of a week-long truce between Israel and Hamas.

Gaza has witnessed some of the most intense Israeli bombardment, leading to the displacement of hundreds of thousands of Palestinian people. After more than 50 days of continuous Israeli bombardment, nearly 15,000 Palestinians have been killed and over 30,000 wounded.

The Israeli air and ground strikes have also caused extensive damage to buildings, including hospitals, mosques, and churches.

The dire situation in Gaza is compounded by an Israeli blockade, severing the region from essential supplies such as fuel, electricity, and water. Aid deliveries to Gaza have also reached to a minimum.
