Trump Civil Fraud Trial Testimony Ends, Verdict Likely in Early 2024

NEW YORK:  Testimony in Donald Trump’s civil fraud trial in New York has been concluded on Wednesday, Western media reported.

The case filed by the York attorney general seeks to put heavy penalty of at least $250 million on Trump and curtailing his ability to do business in New York.

Trump, the main candidate for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, has denied any charges against him calling the case a scam.

Justice Arthur Engoron, is expected to announced the verdict in writing after conclusion of arguments on January 11.

New York Attorney General Letitia James, who brought the case, in a statement said that the trial showed that Trump was involved in fraud. Engoron has already ruled that financial statements of Trump were fraudulent.

The trial started on October 2 and focused on financial documents and expert testimony. The court also crossed examined the witnessed in the case.

Trump admits inaccuracy of asset evaluations

During the proceedings Trump admitted that asset evaluations on his financial statements were inaccurate but said that they were just errors.

Trump accused Engoron of showing political bias against him. The former president also expressed same grievances in remarks to media during his court appearances.

Engoron had fined Trump a total of $15,000 twice for violating the court’s order. According to legal experts the case has grave consequences for Trump’s real estate business.

In September, Engoron found Trump accountable for fraud and canceled business certificates of his portfolio, including Trump Tower and 40 Wall Street in Manhattan.

Trump is currently facing legal troubles and criminal cases as he campaigns to run the President election in November 2024. He has pleaded not guilty in all four cases.
