Pakistan’s Interior Minister Bugti Resigns

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Interior Minister Sarfaraz Bugti resigned from his post on Friday amid the Supreme Court’s order for the Election Commission of Pakistan to release the schedule for the general elections today, local media reported. Bugti’s resignation is likely allow his participation in the upcoming elections.

Sources indicate that he submitted his resignation on December 13, and Pakistan’s Prime Minister Anwar Haq Kakar accepted it on Friday (today).

Sarfaraz Bugti, associated with the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), was elected as a member of the upper house of the parliament on general seat in by-elections held in September 2018. Previously, he served as the home minister of Balochistan in the 2013 Assembly.

In a recent interview with We News, Bugti kept his political future plans undisclosed, stating that it’s a top secret.
