ISLAMABAD: Various parts of northern Pakistan, especially the Quetta region and the Ziarat hill station, were blanketed in white after the season’s first snowfall, causing temperatures to drop below freezing in several areas.

Balochistan areas, including Quetta, Ziarat, Kalat, Qilla Saifullah, and Zoab, experienced severe cold as temperatures further decreased following the season’s first snowfall.

The landscape, trees, and mountains were covered with approximately three inches to one foot of snow, creating an enchanting scene for residents and tourists alike. Enthusiastic tourists engaged in building snowmen, engaging in snowball fights, posing for photographs, and taking selfies.

Talking to a private news channel, a resident warned the tourists, “People coming to enjoy the snow are advised to keep their tanks full.”

He also encouraged visitors to bring appropriate winter gear, including warm clothes and shoes, advising against wearing heels or dress shoes with leather soles.

To assist tourists, local police implemented a comprehensive traffic plan, issued traffic advisories, and established a helpline while actively rescuing vehicles stuck in the snow. The police urged tourists to cooperate to avoid traffic congestion, especially during snowfall.

A tourist admired the enchanting snowfall, noting that it had transformed the region into a picturesque winter wonderland. The snow-covered mountains were captivating, making it an ideal destination for those seeking the magic of winter.

A mother highlighted that snowfall was a favorite time for children, expressing their excitement about playing in the snow, building snowmen, and sharing selfies with friends.

On the other side, people in Ziarat Valley faced disruptions due to electricity shortages and problems with gas pressure, the primary means of maintaining room temperatures in winter. —APP
