ISLAMABAD: Hafiz Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi, Pakistan Prime Minister’s Special Representative for Religious Harmony and Islamic Countries, on Tuesday called for the establishment of an international tribunal to investigate Israel’s war crimes against innocent Palestinians in Gaza.

The United Nations (UN) should take immediate measures in that regard as it was the unanimous demand of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to hold Israel accountable for the war crimes it was committing in Palestine, he said while addressing a conference on the current situation in Palestine and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

Ashrafi said that people all over the world, irrespective of their religious backgrounds, were condemning Israeli brutalities against innocent Palestinians.

He said that both Muslims and non-Muslims stood united in opposition to the Zionist regime, which was committing genocide in Palestine. It was humanity, not the followers of a specific religion, facing oppression, he added.

Israel is Oppressor, Occupier, Aggressor

Ashrafi said Israel was an oppressor, occupier, and aggressor, and Pakistan would support a solution to the conflict as per the aspirations of the Palestinians.

Ashrafi appreciated Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir for effectively highlighting the problems of Kashmir and Palestine during his recent visit to the United States.

He condemned the recent terrorist incidents that led to the martyrdom of soldiers, adding that foreigners living in Pakistan should follow the laws of the land and refrain from creating unrest.
