According to the Emirates News Agency, Ghebreyesus congratulated Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan on hosting the UN Climate Change Conference in November — at which health issues took center stage for the first time in the event’s history — his international initiatives to combat disease and epidemics, and the UAE’s help for the WHO and its programs.
He also lauded the UAE for its efforts in providing healthcare support to Gaza, including taking around 1,000 Palestinian children and their families for medical treatment in Emirati hospitals.
The UAE is also treating around 1,000 Palestinian cancer patients and has built a field hospital in the Gaza Strip.
