SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir National Front (JKNF)on Friday urged the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to play a crucial role in resolving the Kashmir dispute by implementing the UN proposed road map. The JKNF said that UNSC should play its role in implementing 5th January 1949 resolution that seeks resolution of the Kashmir dispute based on the right to self-determination.
In a statement released in occupied Srinagar, the JKNF spokesperson Shafiq ur Rehman highlighted that India’s aggressive military occupation has been a significant obstacle to achieving a peaceful settlement of the over seven decades long conflict.
The spokesperson called on the UN Security Council to address India’s occupation of Jammu and Kashmir and actively participate in implementing the historic resolution, which guarantees the right to self-determination for the people of Kashmir.
Acknowledging the severe consequences of the Kashmir dispute, the JKNF spokesperson urged the global community to exert pressure on the Indian government to peacefully resolve the conflict, considering the highly volatile situation in the region.
