WASHINGTON: The US first female Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced on Thursday that she will stand down from her role in the House of Representatives. The 82-year-old Nancy Pelosi did a lot during her political career and proved herself to be the most influential female in the history of the U.S.

Democrats lost few seats in the House of Representatives than predicted in the recent midterm polls in the US. However, Republicans secured a narrow majority in the House of Representatives. Therefore, Pelosi opted to stand down from her position in the House.
