Twitter shuts down offices

Florida: Social media microblogging Twitter has announced to shut offices across the United States till November. Twitter, which Elon Musk has recently taken over, did not give a reason why it has ordered to close down offices.


“Effectively immediately, we temporarily closing our office buildings and all badge access will be suspended. Offices will reopen on Monday November 21st,” Twitter said in an inter email sent to staff.

Twitter, however, did not specify the reason for the closure of offices. However, the closure comes amidst reports that a barrage of employees were quitting after Elon Musk them to “sign up for long hours at high intensity” or leave the company.


The message sent to the employees further said that “please continue to comply with company policy by refraining from discussing confidential company information on social media, or with the press or elsewhere.”

Earlier, Elon Musk told Twitter employees that they will have to commit to working “long hours ” or else leave the social media company. Elon Musk asked workers to agree to the pledge if they wanted to stay, and those who did not sign up by Thursday would be given three months’ severance pay.


Earlier this month, Twitter said that it was cutting around 50 percent of its workforce.
