BANGKOK: Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand has held a meeting with visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Bangkok, local media reported on Sunday.
Wang Yi said he looks forward to the Thai royal family making more contributions to the development of China-Thailand friendship and ties under the new situation.
Calling the Princess an old and good friend of the Chinese people, Chinese FM recalled that Princess Sirindhorn was awarded the Medal of Friendship and visited China around 50 times.

The Foreign Minister added the Princess also played a leading role of deepening the mutual understanding between the two sides, who can be seen as the symbol of Sino-Thai friendship.
Wang said that China is willing to maintain high-level exchanges with the Thailand, close people-to-people changes, and also promote the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two sides to a new level. Princess Sirindhorn stated she cherishes the friendship with Beijing and often show students the Medal of Friendship.
She hoped to work closely with the China in various fields of communication and exchange, strengthen traditional medicine, science, technology, education, aerospace and other aspects of cooperation.
