Elections 2024: Political Hustle Bustle in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: All major political parties and a large number of candidates are actively taking part in the election campaign in Pakistan as the South Asian nation gears up for the upcoming general election scheduled for February 8.

Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP), Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), ANP and a large number of independent candidates are contesting for national and provincial assemblies’ seats in the country. As the nation heads towards the polls, the surge in independent candidates signifies a broader shift in the political landscape, ushering in a new era of different voices and choices within the democratic framework. Youth and women also expressed hope that the elections would be held in a positive environment. The youth said that they will use their right to vote to elect their next political leadership in the country. Women in Pakistan said that they would also actively take part in the upcoming elections in the country. They said that they would prefer those parties and candidates, which will give priorities to legislation to empower women in the country.

Earlier, Arab News reported that women in Pakistan’s Shangla district are also gearing up to cast their votes as the South Asian country goes to the polls on February 8. Arab News reported that a social activist Jameela Khan said they had tried to create awareness on the importance of women voting after the last election results were annulled.
