ISLAMABAD: In an effort to improve voter convenience and accessibility, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has joined forces with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) to provide a convenient SMS service for eligible voters to check their registration status, vote number and the concerned polling station.

Effective January 29, the SMS service, earlier charged at Rs 2 per message, is now free. This move aims to encourage greater public engagement and participation in the electoral process.

To avail this service, voters just need to text their Computerized National Identification Card (CNIC) number to ‘8300’. It is important to note that the CNIC should be entered without dashes (-) or spaces.

In response, voters will get detailed information about their constituencies, polling stations, serial number and block codes.

The ECP has stressed the importance of voters bringing their CNICs to the polling booth on polling day. Even if the CNIC expires or voters use the token issued for a new CNIC, they can vote without any hindrance.
