Indonesian Citizens Cast Their Votes in Islamabad at Advance Polling Event

ISLAMABAD: The Committee for the Indonesian General Elections with the assistance of the Indonesian Embassy in Islamabad conducted an advance polling event on Saturday, at the premises of the Embassy.

According to a press release, the early voting was held for the upcoming general elections in Indonesia scheduled to be held on 14th of this month. The event provided an opportunity for the Indonesian nationals in Pakistan to take part in the electoral process and to foster a sense of community and solidarity among the Indonesians and their families. The elections in democratic Indonesia would drive to determine not only the new President and Vice President but also parliamentary and local representatives.

Accordingly, the officials of the Indonesian Embassy had made arrangements to facilitate over 800 citizens along with their families from across Pakistan to participate in voting process including the federal capital Islamabad. In addition, about 200 Indonesian nationals would exercise their right of vote in the Indonesian Consulate General in Karachi tomorrow (Sunday).

Embassy Brings Indonesian Nationals Together

Moreover, while, serving a platform for exercising political and constitutional rights, the event transcended its primary purpose and evolved into a vibrant social gathering. Athe participants also got the opportunity to reconnect, share stories, and celebrate the joyous occasion together. The atmosphere was filled with lot of music, laughter, and the taste of Indonesian cuisine as the participants also enjoyed the bazaar featuring food stalls, health facilities along with a play area for children.

In his remarks Head of Indonesian General Elections Committee in Islamabad Arrozi M. Munib, said that the event was designed not only as a political event, but also as an opportunity of sharing happiness for Indonesians despite political differences.

Head of General Elections Supervisory Committee Zulfikar Alamsyah stated that the ballot process was tackled smoothly with no major hurdles on the ground.

Moreover, on the invitation of the Embassy Pakistani journalists also graced the occasion and witnessed the electoral process where they got the opportunity to have a liaison with the people of Indonesia and shared their thoughts on cross-border cooperation and mutual respect.

Expressing his views on the election arrangements, Solehatun from Haripur expressed her gratitude to those involved in the democratic process particularly, the Embassy and all Committees for efficiently organizing the voting process, ensuring a smooth and democratic experience for all.

A Pakistani national from Gujranwala, Babar, who was accompanied by his Indonesian wife also expressed his happiness and positive thoughts on the event.
