FUZHOU: The rare footprints of dinosaurs well-preserved in the form of a fossilized form of about 15 square meters in both positive and negative fossil slabs have been unearthed in Longyan City of China’s Fujian Province.

The National Expert Committee on Paleontology and Fossils said that a large area of well-preserved dinosaur imprints has been discovered, which is rare worldwide.

These dinosaur fossils contain sauropod and theropod footprints and a symmetrical ripple structure of footprints which shows the sedimentary environment of the lacustrine body back than ancient times.

Experts have recorded more than 30 footprints of six different dinosaur species by the imprints of footprints- in the fossilized form.

Unique Dinosaur Imprints

According to the media reports, these fossil imprints of ancient giant species are quite unique in the context of amount and clarity. Researchers said that these unique imprints make great importance in the study of the biological living habitats and scenario of the living environment for the late Cretaceous dinosaurs.

Wang Xiaolin of the Expert Committee said that currently, most of the available dinosaur fossil footprints discovered at home and globe belong to the period of Jurassic and early Cretaceous, while these newly found footprints in China belong to the period of the late Cretaceous era.

So, these newly discovered fossil dinosaur foot imprints show the active remains of the last stage of Dinosaurs before these creatures’ faced extinction.

Earlier, since 2020, the Shanghang area of Longyan City in China’s Fujian Province has unveiled diverse fossils of dinosaurs which proves the fact that dinosaurs had lived in this Shanghang area of Fujin Province for a long time.
