BEIJING: Pakistan’s Consul General in Shanghai, Hussain Haider, has expressed deep admiration for China’s remarkable journey of modernization, viewing it as a source of inspiration for Pakistan’s own development goals.

He praised China’s achievement in technological advancement, economic growth, and social progress, noting its transformation from a closed economy to a global leader across industries.

During an interview with China Economic Net during the ongoing China’s two sessions, the National People’s Congress (NPC) and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Haider emphasized the significance of these gatherings, showcasing China’s democratic system and its dedication to enhancing the welfare of its citizens. He believes that decisions made during these sessions will shape China’s future and global role.

In his four years as Consul General in Shanghai, Haider closely monitored the proceedings of the two sessions and commends the focus on economic policies, livelihood security, and international collaboration. He highlights China’s GDP growth target of around 5% as evidence of its strong economic policies and commitment to sustainable development.

Regarding global economic growth, Haider refers to the World Economic Outlook report by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), predicting China’s surpassing of the global average in 2024, reaffirming its confidence in high-quality development.

Haider acknowledges China’s continuous efforts in opening up its economy, which significantly impacts its trading partners and contributes to global economic stability. As the world’s second-largest economy and a major importer, China’s modernization presents substantial opportunities for trading partners like Pakistan.

He underscores the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) as a pivotal driver of China’s modernization, facilitating connectivity across continents through extensive infrastructure projects. Pakistan, as a key partner in BRI, has notably benefited from initiatives like the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), transforming its infrastructure landscape and enhancing connectivity and economic prospects.

Furthermore, Haider applauds China’s collaborations in trade, technology, and cultural exchanges, emphasizing its commitment to mutual economic growth and cultural understanding. He expresses hope for continued close cooperation between Pakistan and China, foreseeing a promising future for both nations as their friendship and collaboration deepen.
