PARIS: A Euronews-branded footage that reported farmers sprayed manure at the Ukrainian embassy in Paris in response to being criticized for protesting is fake, Reuters reported on Tuesday. Several social media platforms shared the video on Feb. 10.

According to the video report, the Ukrainian embassy in France has issued a letter calling on French farmers to stop the current protests, which have been widely covered by media organizations including Reuters since January.

In response, the fake video said farmers had sprayed manure at the embassy compound in Paris. It also cited Arnaud Rousseau, head of France’s farmers union FNSEA, as also criticizing the alleged letter and saying Kyiv has no right to demand anything from the French.

Reuters stated that no evidence of Euronews ever posting such a news report, nor of Ukraine’s embassy in France issuing a letter to farmers nor of French farmers assaulting the embassy with manure. Similarly, there is also no evidence of Rousseau publicly making any such remarks about the alleged letter.
