ISLAMABAD: The Embassy of Nepal in Pakistan marked the 261st Nepal Army Day with enthusiasm and fervor in Islamabad. The event was graced by Chairman National Disaster Management Authority Lt. General Inam Haider as the chief guest, along with distinguished envoys, Defence Attaches, and representatives from various countries.
Ambassador Tapas Adhikari shed light on the historical significance of Nepali Army Day, tracing its establishment back to 1762 AD. He underscored the enduring legacy of the Nepali Army as one of the world’s oldest and steadfast military institutions, renowned for its rich history of bravery and service in safeguarding Nepal’s national security.
The celebration encapsulated a harmonious blend of diplomatic exchanges, cultural festivities, and recognition of the Nepali Army’s remarkable journey. It reinforced the enduring bond between Nepal and Pakistan while fostering international collaboration in the pursuit of peace and security.
Nepal and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan established diplomatic ties on March 20, 1960. In 2019, both nations commemorated the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations. Nepal established a residential Embassy in Islamabad in 1962, followed by an Honorary Nepali Consulate General in Karachi in 1975, further solidifying their diplomatic presence.
The diplomatic relations between Nepal and Pakistan are characterized by cordiality and collaboration across various domains, including trade, strategic partnerships, and military cooperation. Both countries have signed agreements to reciprocate the “Most Favored Nation” status, aiming to enhance trade and cooperation to mutual benefit.
