GAZA: Israeli troops have surrounded and opened fire at Gaza’s al-Shifa hospital, Arab media reported on Monday. Gaza’s media office has condemned the ongoing Israeli military offensive at al-Shifa hospital, the besieged territory’s largest hospital, adding the assault amounts to a serious “war crime”.
In a statement the Gaza office said that heavily armed Israeli forces, accompanied by tanks and drones, launched the operation in the early hours of dawn on Monday and started shooting inside the hospital, threatening the lives of thousands of people in the complex.
The assault shows Israel’s intent to completely destroy Gaza’s hospitals, it maintained. The office called on the world “to intervene immediately in order to curb the occupation and halt the war of extermination”.
War on Gaza: Israeli Troops Attack al-Shifa Hospital
A Palestinian reporter trapped inside the Hospital has termed the situation inside the complex as “catastrophic” amidst “intense clashes” and gunfire.
In a social media post, he said that they are currently besieged. He added that they have no idea what is going on outside the hospital, but the situation is catastrophic.
According to the United Nations, around 155 health facilities in Gaza Strip have been destroyed due to brutal strikes of Israel.
Meanwhile, the Wafa news agency reported that an Israeli assault on the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza. It added Israeli troops bombed a house there, killing around 9 Palestinians and injuring several others.
Earlier, UN’s children’s agency, UNICEF said that Israel has killed over 13,000 children in the Gaza Strip since October. UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell said that thousands more have been wounded in the war between Israel and Hamas.
